Reuters: Why the NYT will lose to HuffPo
[T]he difference between the two pages is much starker than it needs to be: the NYT page is like walking into a library, while the HuffPo page is like walking through Times Square.

I would like to take this moment to show how I prefer to read articles on the web:
And now that Instapaper has partnered with Readability as a way to pay authors, I don’t see why this can’t become a sustainable way to consume content.
It works like this: I pay a monthly subscription fee to Readability. Then whenever I read an article in Instapaper, the publisher/writer get a percentage of my monthly subscription. It’s win-win-win.
Instapaper has changed my reading habits drastically. I will gladly walk through Times Square for breaking news. However anything that requires thought or is longer than two paragraphs goes right into my instapaper feed and is typically consumed within a 24-48 hr period.

Although, this begs the question if HuffPo is more of a news community and the NYT is more of a news source. I read the NYT a lot more but I rarely feel the need or desire to interact with it. When it comes to news, I just want the words.

This is so saddening. On a much smaller scale, this is what it feels like to argue for a solid design for my yearbook.
